Inferences concerning Auroras.

چکیده
shown in the seventh column of the table is little affected by differences in the limiting brightness. This divergence indicates that, as compared with both Kapteyn and Mount Wilson, their results are not homogeneous; and noting, further, that the numerous and careful guages of the Herschels which extend to the 14th magnitude give a galactic condensation agreeing closely with Kapteyn (Herschel 12.9, Kapteyn 11, Chapman and Melotte 3.9), one gains the impression that, through some unknown cause, their counts in the richer fields fail to include many of the fainter stars.

Variation of different components of Jupiter’s auroral emission
[1] The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) data set obtained over two campaigns in 2007 is used to determine the long-term variability of the different components of Jupiter’s auroras. Three regions on the planet’s disc are defined: the main oval, the low-latitude auroras, and the high-latitude auroras. The UVauroral power emitted from these regions is extracted and compared to estimated solar wind c...
متن کاملRecords of sunspot and aurora during CE 960–1279 in the Chinese chronicle of the Sòng dynasty
Records of sunspot and aurora observations in pre-telescopic historical documents can provide useful information about solar activity in the past. This is also true for extreme space weather events, as they may have been recorded as large sunspots observed by the naked eye or as low-latitude auroras. In this paper, we present the results of a comprehensive survey of records of sunspots and auro...
متن کاملGround-based and satellite observations of high-latitude auroral activity in the dusk sector of the auroral oval
On 7 December 2000, during 13:30–15:30 UT the MIRACLE all-sky camera at Ny Ålesund observed auroras at high-latitudes (MLAT ∼ 76) simultaneously when the Cluster spacecraft were skimming the magnetopause in the same MLT sector (at ∼ 16:00–18:00 MLT). The location of the auroras (near the ionospheric convection reversal boundary) and the clear correlation between their dynamics and IMF variation...
متن کاملA single starfish Aurora kinase performs the combined functions of Aurora-A and Aurora-B in human cells.
Aurora, an essential mitotic kinase, is highly conserved during evolution. Most vertebrates have at least two Aurora kinases, Aurora-A and Aurora-B, which have distinct functions in the centrosome-spindle and inner centromere-midbody, respectively. However, some non-vertebrate deuterostomes have only a single Aurora. It remains to be verified whether the single Aurora performs the same function...
متن کاملun 2 01 5 Saturn ’ s aurora observed by the Cassini camera at visible wavelengths .
The first observations of Saturn’s visible-wavelength aurora were made by the Cassini camera. The aurora was observed between 2006 and 2013 in the northern and southern hemispheres. The color of the aurora changes from pink at a few hundred km above the horizon to purple at 1000-1500 km above the horizon. The spectrum observed in 9 filters spanning wavelengths from 250 nm to 1000 nm has a promi...
